Veszprém, the City of Queens
The city
A thousand years of history on one hill
Veszprém is the city of Queen Gisela and King Stephen I: one of the first bishoprics was founded here, St Michael's Cathedral stands here, and according to tradition even the coronation mantle is linked to the convent in the Veszprém Valley. The Baroque character of the castle was shaped by Bishop Márton Padányi Bíró, who was also responsible for laying out Holy Trinity Square.
